MCHERDC's mission is to aid national and state decision makers who seek to utilize data-driven, evidence-based evaluation processes in formulating maternal child health policy.

Community News!

The Maternal Child Health and Education Research and Data Center at the University of Florida was recently awarded a grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund to conduct a community needs assessment as a first step toward constructing a  comprehensive database of services to families and children accessing social support and health care in Alachua County.

Pooling information can reap large rewards for all organizations who participate. This community database will help agencies understand neighborhood dynamics (crime, demographics), understand how services are delivered (proximity to health and recreation facilities), improving the quality of decisions (where an urgent care clinic should be located), and making local policy changes to improve health (accommodating clients with special needs).

The proposed community database will facilitate delivery of services in a time efficient and considerate fashion. By sharing information, more families in need will be able to be helped with more direct, targeted services.
